Yes, Aaron Rodgers was acquired by the New York Jets in April 2023 from the Green Bay Packers.

Former Green Bay Packers legend, Aaron Charles Rodgers, popularly known as Aaron Rodgers, is an American professional football player who plays for the New York Jets of the NFL. The Super Bowl XLV champion, Rodgers, is the recipient of 4 MVP awards. Rodgers played football at Butte College in Oroville, California, before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft with their 24th overall pick. He spent more than a decade with the Packers and played for them for 17 years before getting traded to the New York Jets in 2023.

He was the starting quarterback for his high school team, Pleasant Valley High School, and led the team to a state championship in 2001. The 4-times NFL passing leader played 2 years with the California Golden Bears Football team and broke the school record for the lowest percentage of passes intercepted at 1.43% in the 2003 season. The 10-time pro bowler holds California Golden Bears career record for lowest percentage of passes intercepted at 1.95%.

Is Aaron Rodgers a New York Jet?

On April 24, 2023, the Green Bay Packers dealt the four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets in exchange for their No. 13 overall 2023 first-round pick, No. 42 overall 2023 second-round pick, No. 207 overall 2023 sixth-round pick, and No. 207, a conditional 2024 second-round pick that would have became a first-round pick if Rodgers had played 65% of the Jets' offensive snaps in 2023. However, a season-ending injury in his first-ever game with New York, meant the Jets kept their 1st round pick from the 2024 NFL draft. They drafted a tackle named Olu Fashanu to protect Aaron Rodgers after moving down one spot in the draft.

Why Aaron Rodgers is a good fit for the Jets

Aaron Rodgers is a proven winner and even if he has failed to lead the Packers to more than one Super Bowl victory, he has seen tremendous regular-season success over the years. This is something the Jets have been missing for a good number of years and thus with Rodgers under center, they have a great chance of making the playoffs in 2024.

Furthermore, with so many seasons out of the postseason, the Jets are in a win-now mode. And for that who better than a 19-year-old veteran with multiple NFL MVPs to his name?
