American football cornerback Charvarius “‘Mooney” Ward plays for the San Francisco 49ers as of September 2024. The Dallas Cowboys signed him as an undrafted agent after the 2018 NFL Draft. However, after five months, he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in August 2018. He could only start two games, appearing in all 13 in his rookie year regular season. Ward was an important player in the Super Bowl LIV winning season of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. He appeared in all possible games including the playoff season. After four seasons and 67 appearances recording 276 total tackles, Ward transferred to the San Francisco 49ers. Ward put up career-high numbers in his debut year with the 49ers. He recorded 87 combined and 59 solo tackles in 2022. Ward has started every game he has played off the 49ers across two seasons.

Ward attended McComb High School in Mississippi. He earned all-region honours as he recorded 48 tackles. He was rated the team's top defensive back as he lettered only in football. Ward committed to Hinds Community College in 2014. As a rookie in 2014, he recorded 32 tackles, three interceptions, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble. He transferred to Middle Tennessee paying for the Raiders in 2016. As a senior, played in all 13 games putting career-high 48 tackles that year.
