The 2025 NFL Draft, which will take place from April 24 through April 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, will see all 32 franchises looking to bolster their rosters by picking college athletes. The three-day mega event will be exclusively covered on ABC, ESPN, and the NFL Network. There have been a total of seven rounds in each NFL draft taking place since 1994, as per ESPN.

Every round in the NFL draft is allotted at a particular time. The first round of the NFL draft will have the most amount of time in between picks. Teams will be on the clock for 10 minutes in Round 1. In round 2, teams will have seven minutes to make their selection. The time limit decreases as the rounds go on. Round 3 through round 6 have five minutes to make the picks while the final round, round 7 will offer just four minutes to make the selection (via CBS Sports).

How many picks are in the NFL Draft?

There are a total of at least 257 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft as reported by NBS Sports Boston. As of February 2025, the Tennessee Titans hold the first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. There are a total of seven rounds in the NFL draft. In every round, all 32 teams are given one draft pick. The allotment is determined by the standing in which the teams finish the previous NFL season. This amounts to 224 picks at minimum. Due to the trades between teams, certain teams may end up with more picks while the other team ends up with fewer.

In addition to these 224 draft picks, the league awards additional picks, known as compensatory picks. These happen when the team loses players in free agency or if the other teams hire minority front-office staff and coaches (via Pro Football Network).
