How does the NFL Draft work?

The NFL Draft takes place during the end of April or early May. There are a total of seven rounds in the NFL Draft. Every team is given a pick during each round.


The seven rounds of the draft are split into three days. Day 1 will have Round 1 of the draft. On day 2, Round 2 and 3 will take place. And on day 3, Rounds 4 to 7 will happen.


The 32 NFL team’s representatives will be present at the draft location. And will stay connected with the higher-ups at the team headquarters. When their turn comes, the representatives will submit their pick to the NFL official and the draft pick will be announced.


These teams have time limits in which they should choose. Round 1 has 10 minutes in between each pick. Round 2 has seven minutes. Round 3-6 has five minutes. And round 7 has four minutes in between the picks


The teams go by the draft order. This order is determined by the reverse order of their standings from the previous season.
