Drake Maye

Drake Maye is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots. He was born in Huntersville, North Carolina. The 6 ft 4 in signal caller was third overall selection by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL draft. Maye attended William A. Hough High School in Cornelius before transferring to Myers Park High School in Charlotte. Maye played both basketball and football during his high school days. He was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school. Prior to flipping to the Tar Heels in March 2020, he had committed to Alabama in July 2019. After getting redshirted in his freshman season in 2021, he was named the starting quarterback going into the 2022 season for North Carolina.

In his first season as a starter, Maye threw for more than 4,300 yards in just 14 games while throwing for 38 passing touchdowns to just 7 interceptions. He also ran for almost 700 yards while getting into the endzone 7 times. However, his play took a backseat in 2023 compared to his sophomore campaign, as he was only able to accumulate 3,608 yards through air. Even Maye’s touchdown numbers drastically went down to 24, while his interception numbers went up to 9. Drake’s personal silverware includes ACC Player of the Year in 2022, ACC Offensive Player of the Year (2022), ACC Rookie of the Year (2022), First-team All-ACC (2022), and Second-team All-ACC in 2023.
