One of the earlier franchises in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts are a team in the AFC conference and they play in the AFC South division with the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts were founded in 1953 in the city of Baltimore and they remained there until 1984 when they relocated to Indianapolis.

A mascot is at the heart of the sports team. The mascot will make their respective teams stand out by drawing attention to their costumes, their pranks, stunts, and most importantly engagement with the crowd. The Colts introduced their latest mascot Blue in 2006. He is a blue-colored horse with a white mane. Wearing the number 00 white jersey and sporting a big horseshoe at the front, Blue is known to be a tremendous crowd puller.

On the field, Blue can always be found playing around and getting the crowd into the game. He is at the forefront cheering with the fans when the team scores while also pumping up the team when they are down. A thorough entertainer, Blue has won numerous accolades such as mascot of the year on three occasions in 2016, 2019, and 2023.

Colts mascot Blue salary

The salary for the Colts mascot Blue lies in the range of $50,000. This salary is given for all of his gameday events, as well as any team-related events off the field. However, Blue also attends many more events throughout the year for which he earns a separate compensation.

While several mascots from other sports leagues such as the NBA are known to earn high salaries, some even touching six figures, NFL mascots are generally paid between $50,000 - $60,000 annually on average. Of course, some mascots have a bit higher salary depending upon their terms with the team they represent.

Colts mascot Blue off the field

Off the field, Blue has been to several events and continues to do so year in and year out. The man behind the costume, Trey Mock, once said in an interview that he loves to visit schools and encourage children in various aspects of life through Blue.

He wishes that he could actually remove his mask and reveal the person inside to the children which will in turn motivate the kids to stop hiding behind their masks. With older kids, Trey does unmask and gives them motivational speeches and encourages them to make a difference in their lives. Apart from visiting schools, there are many more events lined up for Blue as he visits charities, hospitals, birthday parties, corporate parties, parades, etc.

On a less serious note, the mascot Blue is famous for putting pie on people’s faces while randomly walking around making for one funny incident. And, he also brings his A-game when on the field playing football with the kids. He has been seen playfully shoving kids to the ground and acting all charged up.
