Jalen Hurts is an American professional football player for the NFL team Philadelphia Eagles as of the 2024 NFL season. Hurts was selected as the 53rd pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Hurts became the Eagles’ starting quarterback in his rookie season and quickly seized the opportunity to become a star quarterback in the league. As of February 2025, he played in two Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs after losing Super Bowl LVII to them. According to Spotrac, he signed a contract extension with the Eagles in 2023 worth $255 million for five years.

He was born on August 7, 1998 in Houston, Texas. Hurts played college football at the University of Alabama for three years before transferring to the University of Oklahoma for his final year. As a freshman at Alabama, Hurts was a starting quarterback on the team. He recorded 2,780 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year and won the SEC Offensive Player of the Year award. His sophomore season yielded no awards or honors and was completed with Hurts recording 2,081 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. In 2019, Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma where he broke the single-game record for yards in a debut game. Hurts’ season at Oklahoma was successful, with him leading the team to the Big 12 Championship. He had 3,851 passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns (via Sports Reference).
