Currently, Josh Allen is one of the most followed personalities in the game of American football. With a stacked conference such as is the case in the AFC, every franchise is struggling to find ways to make it to the playoffs every year. The AFC is home to some of the most impeccable quarterbacks and teams in the NFL and the competition for playoffs is fierce. Even so, Josh Allen has managed to lead the Bills to the postseason in four of his five years as the starter.

Selected by the Bills in the first round in 2018, Allen was made the starting quarterback in his rookie season itself. Even though the Bills missed the playoffs that year, Allen was starting to find his feet in the professional league. Ever since his rookie year finished, he has started in every single of the Bills’ games and had his best year in 2020 guiding the team all the way to the AFC Championship game. Still relatively young, and with a whole lot of NFL career left for Allen, he has already managed to set multiple franchise and league records to his name. Within five years in the league, Josh has become a national star and hero for the Bills, but let us now take a look at where his life’s journey actually began.

Where was Josh Allen born?

Josh Allen was born and brought up in a small town called Firebaugh, California. This town is roughly 40 miles from Fresno. Allen, along with his siblings grew up on the family farm where he would help his father by driving the tractor, moving irrigation pipes and more. The entire town is mostly known to be a farm town and the population is limited to approximately 5000. As the town is relatively small, and his school did not produce any football players, Josh was not getting any recognition from universities.

Josh Allen’s Early Life

Josh was raised with two sisters named Nicala and Makenna and a younger brother Jason. All four siblings when they grew up were always helping out their parents be it on the farm or in the restaurant their mother was running. Josh and his brother played various sports growing up and were very competitive with each other. This is how Josh was able to develop the competitive drive and the mental toughness to overcome the many obstacles that came his way before the NFL. In his heart, Allen always knew that he wanted to play football. It was with this dream that he began to get involved more and more searching for the correct opportunities.

Josh Allen’s High School

Allen, who was born and brought up in Firebaugh, California, enrolled in Firebaugh High School where he would start his football journey. Unfortunately, though, this was a very small town and his school was also relatively unknown. Even though he put up terrific numbers and performed admirably for his team, Allen wasn’t getting any headway when it came to collegiate offers. Being a lifelong Fresno State fan, he visited many of their games and attended training camps. His father even tried to talk up his son’s abilities with Fresno State’s coach but nobody was ready to give the small-town boy any chance.

Eventually, Josh ended up going to Reedley College in California where one of the assistant coaches at that time was married to his cousin. He played in 10 games and started 6 of them. Over the year, he achieved more than 2,000 passing yards and had 26 passing and 10 rushing touchdowns. He added 660 yards running the ball as well. After having an excellent rookie season, Allen was again looking for offers from other Universities and he contacted the coaches of all the Universities asking them to look at his tape. However, the only substantial offer came from the University of Wyoming. Allen would then transfer to Wyoming where he became the starting quarterback in his second year.

Josh Allen’s journey outside his hometown

At Wyoming, Allen injured his collarbone in his very first year after just 2 games. The good news was that his injury occurred early in the season allowing him to redshirt on medical grounds. The next couple of years were significant for Allen as several people associated with the game began to notice him. When the 2018 NFL Draft came, many were still unsure whether Allen could make it into the professional league. But, it is safe to say that Josh has proved all of his doubters wrong and is now enjoying a spectacular career in the NFL with the Bills. As he continues to build on his early legacy in Buffalo, it will be exciting to see if he can finally lead the Bills to their first Lombardi trophy in franchise history.
