Ga'Quincy "Kool-Aid" McKinstry, simply known as Kool-Aid Mckinstry, played his college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide and was the cornerback for the team. He started his college football career in 2021 and played for three seasons with the team before declaring for the 2024 NFL draft. The 2024 NFL draft class is stacked with talent and McKinstry is quite simply a defensive force who can wreak havoc for the opposition. Let us learn more about him.

McKinstry started his college football career in 2021 and in his true freshman season, he had 26 total tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks, and a single interception. In his sophomore season, McKinstry finished the year with 35 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks, and a single interception. In his final season with the Crimson Tide, McKinstry would go on to have 32 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, in 14 games that he played.

His individual performance on the defensive side of the field got him named to First-team All-American in 2023, and McKinstry was also selected to the First Team All-SEC twice in 2022 and 2023. Any NFL team that picks McKinstry will be adding a very high IQ defender who relies on his instincts and intelligence to make the right defensive play.

There was a ton of hype when McKinstry was coming out of high school and rightfully so. He was a consensus five-star recruit and was also named the USA Today Defensive Player of the Year. McKinstry attended Pinson Valley High School, located in Pinson Alabama and was named Alabama Mr. Football in his senior year.

An interesting fact about McKinstry is, that his grandmother nicknamed him “Kool-Aid,” because of his smile which reminded her of the Kool-Aid Man. Later, McKinstry would go on to sign a NIL deal with the brand Kool-Aid.
