
Malik Nabers is a professional American football wide receiver for the New York Giants in the NFL. The Giants selected Nabers as the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Nabers made his NFL debut in the season opener, as he recorded five receptions for 66 yards. His first NFL career touchdown came in the second game against the Washington Commanders. Nabers became the first player in NFL history to record atleast 20 receptions and three touchdowns catches in his first three NFL games. In four appearances, Nabers has recorded 35 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns.
Growing up in Louisiana, Nabers attended Southside High School. Before moving to Southside High School in Youngsville, he played football for Comeaux during his first three years of high school in Lafayette, Louisiana. Nabers initially committed to Mississippi State University before switching to his home state at LSU. Over three seasons in college, Nabers appeared in 38 games recording 189 receptions for 3,003 yards and 21 touchdowns. During his junior year in 2023, Nabers recorded 1569 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, earning unanimous All-American and First-team All-SEC honors.

The number 1 jersey was retired to honor the career of Ray Flaherty 89 years ago. Nabers wore the number 9 jersey during the preseason. He gave up the number to his veteran punter Graham Gano ahead of the season. According to the New York Giants' official website, Nabers was allowed to un-retire the jersey number after consulting Giants' President and CEO, John Mara, and the Flaherty family, who ultimately gave their consent.
