He graduated from high school as a three-star recruit and received 4-4A honors for both his junior and senior seasons. Tannehill went on to attend Texas A&M for college where he played college football.

Drafted by the Miami Dolphins with their eighth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft., Tannehill made the switch to the Tennessee Titans after an injury-plagued seven seasons with the Dolphins.
