NFL free agent Cam Newton plays American football. "Super Cam" is a top NFL quarterback with the second-most rushing yards and the most rushing touchdowns for an NFL quarterback.

In college, Cam moved to Alabama to play at Auburn University. In his junior season, he won the 2011 BCS National Championship Game and Heisman Trophy. Cam's stellar play got him drafted by the Panthers in the 2011 draft.

The 11-year veteran quarterback had some great performances in the Carolina Panthers jersey winning the NFL MVP in 2015 and leading the team to an appearance in Super Bowl 50. Unfortunately, though, he was not able to come out on the winning side.

Will Cam Newton play again?

It seems more and more unlikely that Newton will step foot on a football field once again given that he last played in 2021. He hasn't committed to any team, but retirement isn't confirmed either. Cam's been off the field since the Panthers released him in 2021.

There are a few factors that might sway Newton's choice about returning to play. First and foremost is his health. Cam had some injuries lately, and being in good shape is crucial to perform his best. Then there's the league itself. Football, like any other sport, evolves with time. The league's getting more competitive. This makes Newton have to improve and evolve. If Newton decides to adapt and change his game, he can surely get a new contract with a team in the NFL.

Nevertheless, if Newton does join a team he could bring a lot to the table. He's a former MVP, led his squad to a Super Bowl, and boasts extensive NFL experience.

When did Cam Newton last play in the NFL?

On January 9 2022 in the NFC Wild Card round, we witnessed Cam Newton's appearance in the NFL when the Carolina Panthers faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately for Newton and his team, the Eagles emerged victorious with a score of 31-15. It was a turn of events for Cam when he had been the starting quarterback for the Panthers. Cam's season took a downturn in Week 12. The injury kept him out of the line-up for the remaining games. Despite his return for postseason play it wasn't enough to propel the Panthers. Carolina ended up losing to the Eagles and was sent home.

As of now, it is worth noting that Newton has not officially retired from football. However, since concluding his campaign in 2021, he has not found a team to sign him. Consequently, he remains without employment, at present.
