Michael Strahan was born in Houston, Texas, on November 21, 1971. Strahan’s father was in the U.S. army which made him spend the majority of his time in Germany. Strahan is the youngest of six children. Louise Traylor Strahan, his mother, was a basketball coach and his father is a retired army officer and a boxer. Not to mention his uncle Art Strahan, who was a defensive lineman in the NFL.

Strahan attended Westbury High School in Houston. In Westbury, he played basketball, football, and ran track. Michael was the 1990 DPOY (defensive player of the year) playing for the Houston Touchdown Club.
