Yahya Black is an American college football defensive tackle from the University of Iowa. He is a Marshall, Minnesota native, and there he attended Marshall High School. Yahya Black signed with the Iowa Hawkeyes football program in 2020 and played for them until the end of the 2024 season. His 5-year collegiate tenure saw him appear in 53 games, recording 117 tackles (51 solo), 15 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. In 2024, he earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors from both coaches and media. He was also named to Phil Steele’s Fourth-Team All-Big Ten, received the Hayden Fry Award for defense, and was one of eight seniors selected for the 2024 Player Council.
In 2023, he was again an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten pick by league coaches and media and made Phil Steele’s Third-Team All-Big Ten (via Iowa Hawkeyes athletics). Black was one of 329 prospects invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. At the 2025 NFL Combine, his Next Gen Stats score of 61 ranked 30th overall among the defensive tackles, according to the official NFL website.
