Indore Marathon Version 5.0: Are you ready for it?

IIM Indore will be organizing the Indore Marathon for the fifth consecutive year, on October 2nd this year. Last year, about 6000 participants participated in the marathon, and this year the number is expected to reach more than 10000 participants. The 11 km run is named the “Equality Run”, and the participants will run from Dussehra Maidan to IIM Indore campus at Prabhandh Sikhar, Rau. There is also a shorter version of the marathon called Dream run (3 kms), and will happen inside the IIM Indore campus.

If the theme for last year was “Running for healthy India”, this year the theme for Indore Marathon is “Running for Gender Equality”. As a part of the run-up to the marathon, the students will be organizing various promotional activities in shopping malls and public places, to generate awareness about the theme. “We will be organizing various games and plays in this regard, starting 26th of September, Wednesday,” Varun Singh Bothiyal, student coordinator of the event told Sportskeeda. “Our attempt through this year’s Marathon is to address the inequality which exists in the society, and to make people aware of the same. Through the promotional events, we aim to show how women are facing impediments in the society, despite their growing stature and how people should work on removing it”, he added.

The students of IIM Indore will also be doing various workshops inside their campus, and in the city for school students, to make young children aware of the social cause. `Quizathon`, the online quiz started on Facebook on the 26th of September, and is sponsored by Sportskeeda.com. Sportskeeda is also the media partner for this year’s Indore Marathon. The first quiz attracted participation from over 10 colleges, and a random draw was used to select the winners. The first quiz of Quizathon had three winners – Rameen Khan from IIM Indore, Arun Raj S from IIM Calcutta, and Atul Uttam from IIM Udaipur. “The Quizathon will run for five days till the culmination of the Indore Marathon. The quiz will test the participants’ ability on various topics related to this year’s theme”, Sayan Maiti, member of the Quiz Club told Sportskeeda. “Everyday we will upload a question at 6 PM in the Indore Marathon Facebook Page, and will accept entries till 12 AM on the same day. At the end of the five day Quiz, a grand prize winner will be selected on a lottery basis from the list of winners,” he added.

The registration for the Indore Marathon has already started, and participants can register on the Indore Marathon website, www.indoremarathon.com, free of cost. Participants can also register using the bulk registration option, if there are more than 20 members, and get the benefit of avoiding queues while collecting chest plates.
