Best fast bowling pairs in Indian cricket history

#8 Zaheer Khan-Ishant Sharma

Zaheer Khan was the undisputed leader of the Indian bowling attack when a 19-year-old Ishant Sharma from Delhi burst onto the scene.

Zaheer had a very good time with the ball partnering Ishant, picking up 123 wickets in 31 Tests with a best bowling figures of 7 for 87 against Bangladesh in 2010. However, Zak only played 11 ODIs with Ishant and took 12 wickets.

Just like how Zaheer had Srinath as a mentor during his early years in international cricket, Ishant had Zaheer as his mentor at the start of his career.

The lanky pacer has picked up 88 wickets in the 31 Tests that he played with Zaheer with a best of 6 for 51 versus New Zealand at Wellington earlier this year. He picked up yet another six-wicket haul in the same series against the Kiwis at Auckland.

However, Ishant hasn't tasted the same kind of success while partnering Zaheer in coloured clothing, picking up 17 wickets in 11 ODIs.
