What's the story?

Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins received a thunderous ovation on RAW when he stepped out and spoke about being a fighting champion. He issued an open challenge for his championship that was eventually answered by Mojo Rawley.

Baron Corbin revealed that he would have answered Seth Rollins' challenge through a Tweet. Unfortunately, he'd already taken his boots off by then!

In case you didn't know...

Seth Rollins won the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania and defended it at the Greatest Royal Rumble as well as Backlash. This week on RAW, he spoke about not wanting to be like the former Champion, The Miz, and defending the title like a real fighting champion should.

Mojo Rawley would answer Rollins' open challenge and step out to face The Kingslayer. Of course, Rollins would make short work of his challenger and retain the prestigious Intercontinental Championship.

The heart of the matter

According to Corbin, the match would have gone differently had he answered the open challenge. One wonders why he didn't put his boots back on and scamper out to the ringside area in that case.

Earlier in the night, Corbin had teamed up with The Revival to take on No Way Jose and Titus Worldwide. Corbin's team picked up the win when he delivered a devastating 'End of Days' to No Way Jose. Is Corbin due for a push and will he be entering the Intercontinental Championship picture anytime soon?

What's next?

Rollins made us believe that the Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge may indeed be a weekly affair. After all, it is known as the 'workhorse title'. Corbin must keep his boots on in the coming week.

Author's take

Neither Rawley nor Corbin are really exciting opponents for Rollins, in my opinion. I'd have loved to see him mix it up with Ziggler or McIntyre, instead of these two men.

Any guesses on who will answer Rollins' challenge on next week's show?
