WWE Rumours: Paige's career coming to an end due to neck injury?

The dreaded neck injury has found its latest victim!

Paige is one of the women who is on the forefront of the Women’s wrestling that has now seen a boom. She signed with WWE in their previous developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling(FCW), which then transitioned into NXT, where she was champion from June 2013 to April 2014, which she then vacated due to the fact that she won the Divas Championship from AJ Lee, ending AJ’s then-record 295 day title reign.

2014 was arguably the best year of Paige’s career, as she spent a good deal of her time instantly on top of the Divas's division, hanging with the likes of AJ Lee and Nikki Bella. 2015 as well was quite a good year for her, as she had her first ever Wrestlemania match, teaming with AJ Lee in a successful effort against The Bella Twins.

She was then the focal point of the division as AJ Lee retired, and The Bellas were dominating, which saw a storyline where Paige was trying to recruit women to her side to start a “revolution”. The Payoff of this storyline was the call up of 3 of NXT’s Four Horsewomen,i.e, Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Paige then instantly formed an alliance with Charlotte and Becky Lynch, dubbing her team as Team PCB.

After Charlotte dethroned Nikki Bella at Night Of Champions 2015, Paige turned heel the next night on Raw, thus disbanding her alliance, and starting a feud with Charlotte after Hell In A Cell, where she unsuccessfully challenged Charlotte in 3 matches for the Divas Championship. After TLC 2015, she then was quietly off WWE television, while Charlotte started a feud with Becky Lynch.

Post that, Paige hadn’t been seen for a while, which was reportedly due to a concussion that she suffered during a house show. She returned to television on January 18th, as a babyface, siding with Natalya. Even after that, Paige was fluttering back and forth and had a match on the Wrestlemania pre-show.

Paige has made appearances after Wrestlemania as well, however not involved in any active storylines. She hasn’t been seen now for a while on television. This is because she is currently dealing with back and shoulder injuries. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that her neck issue is similar to what a lot of wrestlers (nerve damage similar to Daniel Bryan) have had, with serious problems leading to weakness in the right arm, which for some is the first stage of having major issues.

By the looks of it, the young Diva’s future looks precarious and if her injury is as serious as it seems to be, her wrestling career could be cut short. We hope that doesn’t happen and the Diva overcomes the odds to return to in-ring action soon.
