Bryan Danielson to potentially compete in blockbuster rematch in 2024 - Reports

AEW star Bryan Danielson has had his fair share of rivals in recent years in the Jacksonville-based promotion, but could he be taking part in one of the biggest rematches in wrestling history?

On the October 25th edition of Dynamite, the American Dragon came face-to-face with Kazuchika Okada for the first time since Forbidden Door. Bryan picked up the win over The Rainmaker in June, but he didn't come out unscathed, as Okada managed to break Danielson's arm during the bout.

This led to a lot of hard-hitting action between the two men during their tag team bout on Dynamite that also featured Orange Cassidy and Claudio Castagnoli, ending in Bryan being seen to by the ringside doctors after Okada hit the American Dragon with his Rainmaker finishing move.

Despite crossing paths in AEW on two separate occasions, it seems as if there is unfinished business between Okada and Danielson, which Dave Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio could lead to a rematch at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 at the Tokyo Dome.

"Certainly looks like [Kazuchika] Okada [against Bryan] Danielson at some point, it should be the Tokyo Dome," said Dave Meltzer. [51:43-51:49]

Bryan Alvarez agreed with the idea that the rematch should take place at the Tokyo Dome, stating that NJPW sent Okada to AEW for a big event, so AEW should return the favor.

"It has to be the [Tokyo] Dome, it has to be the Dome. [NJPW] gave Okada for an AEW pay-per-view, AEW presumably gives [Bryan] Danielson for Wrestle Kingdom," said Bryan Alvarez. [51:44-51:56]

Bryan Danielson left AEW Dynamite under his own power despite concerns

As previously mentioned, the October 25th edition of Dynamite ended with a very tense atmosphere as Bryan Danielson was being seen by doctors. Meanwhile, Okada was seen taunting Bryan as the Blackpool Combat Club, Hook, and the Best Friends came to the ring.

Fans were concerned about Danielson, but AEW president Tony Khan took to Twitter after the show went off the air to reveal that Bryan left the ringside area on his own.

Bryan Danielson has had a number of injuries during his time with AEW, missing out on two "Blood and Guts" matches, the first-ever Forbidden Door pay-per-view, and the All In event at Wembley Stadium.
