On Friday, April 26, 2024, Crunchyroll announced that it will produce and begin streaming the English dub for Black Butler season 4 anime series. In addition, Crunchyroll confirmed the release date for the English dub, as well as the cast and staff members.

Also known as Black Butler: Public School Arc, season 4 marks the continuation of the TV anime adaptation of illustrator and author Yana Toboso’s original manga series of the same name. The fourth season is the first full television anime season for the series since 2014’s Black Butler: Book of Circus, which adapted the manga arc of the same title.

According to the latest information available at the time of publishing this article, The Black Butler season 4 English dub is set to premiere on Saturday, April 27, 2024, and will exclusively stream on Crunchyroll. The dub cast is headlined by voice actors J. Michael Tatum and Brina Palencia, who will be reprising their respective roles as Sebastian Michaelis and Ciel Phantomhive.

Additional English dub cast for season 4 includes Reagan Murdock as Redmond, Brandon McInnis as Bluewer, Kieran Flitton as Violet, Jonah Scott as Greenhill, Ciarán Strange as McMillan, Branden Loera as Cheslock, Christian Taylor as Clayton, and Andrew Ebb as Agares. It’s unclear as of this article’s writing whether or not this is a full cast list for the anime’s fourth season.

Caitlin Glass is directing the dub, with Samantha Herek producing and James Cheek handling the adaptation. Neal Malley is the mixer and Jamal Roberson serves as the engineer. This is likely the full staff list for the English dub, since many other integral roles are already filled by the original Japanese staff.

Kenjiro Okada is directing the Black Clover season 4 anime at CloverWorks studios, with Hiroyuki Yoshino in charge of series composition. Yumi Shimizu is the character designer for the fourth season, and Ryo Kawasaki is composing the music. Composer -otoha- is performing the opening theme song titled Kyoshinsha no Parade -The Parade of Battlers, and rock band SID is performing the ending theme song, Shokuzai, which translates to “Atonement.”

Japanese entertainment and media company, Aniplex, describes the anime’s fourth season as follows:

“Butler Sebastian Michaelis works with his 13-year-old master, the earl Ciel Phantomhive, to do the dirty work of "the Queen's guard dog" in nineteenth century England's gritty underworld.

The synopsis continues:

"One day, Ciel receives a letter from Queen Victoria telling him that several students at Weston College, one of England's top public schools, have seemingly disappeared... including a relative of hers named Derrick. And so, Sebastian and Ciel infiltrate Weston College to get to the bottom of the matter. What truly happened to these students?”

Black Butler season 4 premiered in Japan on Saturday, April 13, 2024, on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, BS11, MBS, and other broadcasting networks. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in English-speaking, Latin American, and European countries. Crunchyroll previously stated it licensed the anime for worldwide streaming outside of Japan.
