Parupalli Kashyap looks upon PBL to regain his form for Rio Olympics

Kashyap excited about playing in the PBL

Fresh from a troubling injury, which saw him sit out of many tournaments, Indian badminton ace Parupalli Kashyap, is gunning for glory in the newly launched Premier Badminton League(PBL), for his team the Hyderabad Hunters.The 29-year old is excited to play his first match, after returning from injury, and will face compatriot K. Srikanth in his opening match of the PBL. “I am awaiting my first match and hoping that it will be a clash against Srikanth. If we play against each other it will be an exciting game, giving the in stadia crowd as well as the viewers an exhilarating game of badminton,“ he said, as quoted by The Hindu.The Hyderabad badminton team also has Lee Chong Wei, and Kashyap is confident that his team would provide a tough fight to the opponents. “Also With Lee Chong Wei in our team, we look a formidable line-up and we are all set to give a tough time to the opponents,“ he remarked.Speaking about his return from injury, the Hyderabadi hoped that his performance in the PBL would benefit him in the upcoming Rio Olympics next year. “My ranking has dropped seven places as I have not played for last two months. That’s why, I hope that this tournament helps me regain form. If I am fit and back to form, I will be back into top-10.”“Over the years, I have learnt things. Experience at the top level has made me confident. I feel I should be in the top-10. I should be back in the race for qualification for Rio Olympics,” he stated. He also talked about how PBL was a crucial tournament for him, as it would be his first real test, after returning from injury. “Frankly, it is a very crucial period for me. Because, I got injured two months back and I am just coming back. I started playing, trying to do intense sessions now. This tournament (PBL) is like a test for me, on where I am and I am guessing that it will make me to come back quicker,” he said.
