Milwaukee Brewers' Garrett Mitchell had the greatest night of his life on Wednesday, and was glad his wife wasn't around to share the moment.

The young outfielder played the role of hero as he rocketed a walk-off home run in the ninth inning to complete a memorable win against the New York Mets. It was his third home run and his fifth RBI of the season. The Brewers' 7-6 victory completed an unlikely sweep of the Mets.

After the game, Mitchell was asked about his game-winning shot to right field and had an interesting response:

"When my wife doesn't show up to the games, usually something good happens"

The hilarious comeback may cause some problems when he gets home to his wife Haley Cruse Mitchell.

For those who don't know, Haley Cruse Mitchell is a celebrity in her own right. She was a star on the softball team at the University of Oregon and has a massive following online.

Mitchell's wife returned fire with a witty response on Twitter as she stated:

"You won’t say it to my face tho"

Garrett Mitchell has come out firing after being called up to the big leagues this season.

The Milwaukee Brewers had high hopes for Mitchell when they selected him in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft. The 24-year-old has developed faster than expected and will likely play a big role for the organization in 2023.

After finishing last year with a .311 batting average over 28 games, he continues to impress.

In his first six games of the 2023 season, he already has a .300/.364/.850 slash line and a 1.214 OPS. He has recorded three home runs, five RBIs, six hits and six runs in just 20 at-bats.

The New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers find themselves on opposite ends of the standings. The Brewers are now 5-1 and the Mets 3-4. Despite the fact that the Brewers payroll is over $200 million less than that of the Mets, Milwaukee dominated this series.

With the form he is in, Mitchell will do everything in his power to make sure his wife doesn't attend any more of his games.
