Anthony Davis during Los Angeles Lakers v Dallas Mavericks

The LA Lakers are set to take on the Memphis Grizzlies after an impressive win against the Golden State Warriors. Anthony Davis has been a huge influence in recent weeks, producing some epic performances during LeBron James' absence.

The Lakers still need to churn out victories in order to make the postseason and will take on a Memphis Grizzlies team that is without Ja Morant. With Anthony Davis listed as probable in the latest injury report, his availability is in question.

The big man’s foot injury has created consistent issues in recent weeks. He sat out the win against the OKC Thunder but has been in commanding form in his last two appearances. Davis scored 39 points with 8 rebounds and 6 assists against the Warriors.

With LeBron James out, Davis is crucial to the Lakers’ chances of getting a victory. While his availability is set to be decided before the game, fans can expect Davis to suit up.

Anthony Davis is needed against Memphis Grizzlies despite “probable” status

Davis has been the LA Lakers’ primary scorer in recent weeks. His defensive presence gives a solid look at their backline and has been crucial to their better form in recent weeks.

They are still 11th in the Eastern Conference, but are very much in the reckoning for at least a play-in spot. With two of their best players currently out, LA has a real fight on their hands to make the postseason.

Anthony Davis has played in the Lakers' last two games and four out of the last five, averaging impressive statistics of 33.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks per game. However, the team has only won two out of those four games, highlighting the Lakers' dependence on Davis to secure victories.

It feels as though Davis has to be in the line-up if the Lakers have any hope of winning. Even if he is not fully fit, the LA Lakers need to churn out victories regularly and require Davis to contribute on both ends of the court.

Their problems have been compounded by D’Angelo Russell’s absence, who is currently suffering from an ankle sprain. Unlike Russell, Anthony Davis has played through injury in recent weeks and should feature against the Memphis Grizzlies as well.

For the Grizzlies, apart from Ja Morant, other absentees include Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke, who are both injured.
