Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant linked up with LSU star forward Angel Reese to celebrate, following LSU's women’s basketball national title. Morant and Reese’s meetup came shortly before LSU’s championship parade on Wednesday night. The two stars were seen collaborating to do “The Griddy,” a dance that has been made popular by Morant during his in-game celebrations.

The collab caught fans off guard, with many making jokes. This comes after Morant was at the center of controversy earlier this season for his off-court behavior that got him suspended for eight games. Meanwhile, Reese has also recently faced scrutiny for her in-game taunt toward Iowa star guard Caitlin Clark in Sunday’s championship game. Morant was also listed as doubtful to play on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans at the time the dance was posted.

"No wonder he's doubtful to play today,” one fan said.

“Two most hated basketball players right now. Makes sense that they linked up,” another added.

However, there were also some fans that were excited to see the lighthearted interaction between the two basketball stars:

“The link-up we didn’t know we needed,” one said.

Here are some more of the top fan reactions to Ja Morant and Angel Reese’s dance:

The women's basketball national title game between LSU and Iowa on Sunday drew a record-breaking number of viewers with an average of 9.9 million fans watching the game. However, it was later overshadowed by the aforementioned controversy between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. Reese made the "You Can't See Me" gesture towards Clark in the final minutes of the championship game. Furthermore, this came after Clark used the gesture herself in one of her previous games.

Many fans and pundits took issue with the gesture, calling it bad sportsmanship, while others defended Reese. NBA legend Charles Barkley was one pundit who spoke about the controversy, explaining how unfortunate the whole ordeal was for all involved:

"Well, I thought it took away from the game," Barkley said.

"In fairness, Caitlin did that in a game before. I just thought it brought too much attention away from a great performance because she’s amazing.

"And you got all these fools on the internet and on television, who, well, first they gonna make it about race, which is part of it. They deserve to celebrate. I thought it was unfortunate because people are talking more about that than they are about a great performance."

Reese finished Sunday’s title game with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals as LSU secured a decisive 102-85 victory over Iowa. Reese was later named the most outstanding player of the tournament.
