The Golden State Warriors were active in attempting to upgrade their roster ahead of the NBA trade deadline. One NBA insider said that the Warriors had their eyes set on acquiring Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso.

During an episode of "The Lowe Post" podcast, NBA insider Zach Lowe said that Golden State was attempting to acquire Caruso from the Chicago Bulls. Lowe stressed that he believed there wasn't "anything close to a deal." He said:

"I know for sure the Warriors really wanted Alex Caruso and I don't think there was anything close to a deal there."

Alex Caruso is viewed as one of the most versatile guards in the entire NBA. He's become a player whose impact is far greater than his box scores might suggest. One of the top defensive guards in the league, Caruso stands out with his basketball IQ on both sides of the floor.

The Chicago Bulls have struggled throughout the 2022-23 season, leaving many to suggest that the team could have looked to move pieces ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Instead, the Bulls held onto Caruso, valuing him as one of their most important pieces on their roster.

It's been a nightmare first half of the 2022-23 season for the defending NBA champions. Coming into the year, the Golden State Warriors were considered the heavy favorites to defend their championship crown.

Golden State was just coming off an impressive championship run, one that saw them defeat the Boston Celtics in six games for an NBA title. The Warriors have been inconsistent throughout the season. Injuries have played a large role, especially with superstar Steph Curry being in and out of the lineup.

The Golden State Warriors find themselves at 29-29 on the year. They have won five of their past 10 games and are currently in ninth place in the Western Conference standings. Golden State will now look to regroup at the All-Star break before trying to make a push in the NBA standings for the final stretch of the season.
