Murali Vijay continued his great run in Australia by scoring 144 on Day One at Brisbane

India have made a good start to the second Test against Australia, at the Gabba in Brisbane, finishing Day 1 on 311 for 4 in 83 overs. Murali Vijay was the star of the day for the visitors scoring an excellent century that was filled with 22 fours.

Shikhar Dhawan, once again, couldn't convert his good start into a big score, dismissed for 24 off the bowling of Mitchell Marsh. Cheteshwar Pujara was wrongly adjudged caught behind when he was on 18. Ajinkya Rahane, coming in at No. 5, combined with Vijay to put on a 124-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take the team past the 250-run mark, before Vijay fell to Nathan Lyon on 144. There were no further casualties in the day as Rohit Sharma and Rahane added a 50-run partnership to take India to stumps.
