India beat Australia by 8 wickets in the First Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

India have beaten Australia by 8 wickets in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Series.

Australia set India a target of 50 runs on the final day, after Nathan Lyon was dismissed for 11, with Moises Henriques remaining unbeaten on 81.

The home team lost 2 wickets in the chase, after Murali Vijay was dismissed for 6 by James Pattinson while Sehwag was removed for 19 by Nathan Lyon, with India still needing 14 runs for victory.

Sachin Tendulkar then made his way to the crease and smashed two sixes off the first two balls he faced, with Cheteshwar Pujara then hitting the winning runs to wrap up the victory.

M.S Dhoni was declared Man of the Match for his superb double century.
