Months after making a comeback from a year of controversies, Jesse Ryder again finds himself involved in murky activities

Jesse Ryder finds himself in trouble yet again in an alcohol related incident as an ongoing investigation into his bar scuffle with teammate Doug Bracewell means that the duo will not be considered for selection for the second Test against India at Wellington starting on Friday.

Ryder and Bracewell were involved in a physical altercation before the start of the first Test match at Auckland which New Zealand ended up winning by 40 runs. The duo have confessed to being present at the scene of the incident.

“We’ll be naming our second Test side tomorrow or maybe later on today and neither Jesse Ryder nor Doug Bracewell will be available for selection,” New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said.

Ryder, not involved in an alcohol related incident for the first time, and Bracewell are being investigated for the incident which left fast bowler Bracewell with a broken foot and caused a hand injury to Ryder.

“There’s an investigation taking place and we’ll let that run its course before making any bold statements about that sort of thing. Once we get the full information and facts, we’ll be in a far better position to make a statement. It’s important we don’t jump to conclusions without getting the full facts,” Hesson said.

Both Ryder and Bracewell were not part of the XI for the first Test but were available as standby for any injured players.
