The ninth edition of the Indian Premier League is set to kick off from 9 April 2016. The defending champions Mumbai Indians will be taking on the newcomers Rising Pune Supergiants in the inaugural match of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The tournament’s second match will be contested between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils at the magnificent Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The ‘Men in Gold and Purple’ have achieved their share of glory in the previous editions of the tournament having won the coveted silverware twice back in 2012 and 2014.
Gautam Gambhir’s men will be looking forward to yet another successful IPL outing this year after having purchased the likes of Jaydev Unadkat, John Hastings, Jason Holder, and Colin Munro amongst others at the IPL 9 Auction.
Incidentally, the Kolkata-based franchise has the highest valuation amongst all the eight IPL teams. The franchise’s valuation is estimated to be almost 86 million US dollars as per 2015.
