Lahiru Thirimanne warns England of 'Mankading' ahead of Test series

Sachithra Senanayake ‘mankads’ Jos Buttler

Following the controversial ‘mankading’ of Jos Buttler by Sachithra Senanayake, Lahiru Thirimanne has insisted that Sri Lanka will not refrain themselves from doing it again in the Test series that lies ahead.

"Yes, if he's (non-striker) taking unfair starts, we'll warn him, warn twice and after that..." Thirimanne said, when asked if they would be willing to repeat the rare form of dismissal during the two-Test series against England.

Defending the previous incident, he said: "We actually warned him twice, he was taking starts after we warned him so I think that's the rule of the game."

"After the first time he has to learn, if he's doing two or three times you can't help it," Thirimanne added.

The Sri Lankan vice-captain played down the fact that England might not feel agitated with regards to the controversy.

"England, in the one-day tournament came at us really hard, I don't think they'll come at us much harder (in the Tests). We'll expect some good cricket and we're looking forward to it," said the left-handed batsman.

The Test series starts on June 12 with the first match scheduled at Lord's.
