Ahmedabad weather forecast today: What are the chances of rain during the India vs Pakistan match?

Narendra Modi Stadium
A packed house is expected for the high-profile clash in Ahmedabad

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will play host to arguably cricket's biggest clash between India and Pakistan. The match will be played on Saturday, with both sides looking to extend their winning run in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup.

Both sides have notched wins across each of their first two matches in the league stage so far. While Team India toppled Australia and Afghanistan in Chennai and Delhi, respectively, Pakistan beat the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in Hyderabad.

India and Pakistan have showcased early on in the tournament why are they among the favorites to go all the way. The Men in Blue have been formidable across all three departments. Pakistan, on the other hand, recorded the biggest chase in ODI World Cup history (345) during their win over Sri Lanka.

Weather has played a key role in the proceedings when it comes to India-Pakistan encounters in recent times. Their group-stage meeting at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne was threatened by rain, and their Asia Cup 2023 matches also saw significant rain that prevented action.

As far as the weather for the upcoming contest is concerned, there is only a one percent chance of precipitation according to Accuweather. The 2023 ODI World Cup witnessed rain during the warm-up matches, but rain has thankfully stayed away since then to provide uninterrupted cricketing action throughout.

Heat has been a common sight for the sides in the competition so far, and India and Pakistan will not be spared of it in Ahmedabad as well. Temperatures are expected to hit as high as 36 degrees during the day, while high levels of humidity will also not help their case by any means.

"Records are made to be broken " - Babar Azam makes a massive statement ahead of India tie at the 2023 ODI World Cup

The Men in Green do not have a good record against Team India at the ODI World Cup, in fact, they have not racked up a single win against their arch-rivals in seven attempts, dating back to 1992. Pakistan's last ODI win over their neighbors came during the finals of the 2017 Champions Trophy in England.

Babar Azam disregarded Pakistan's woeful record against the Men in Blue in the competition and claimed that the team playing better on the day would walk away with the win.

"I don't want to focus on what has happened in the past. I want to keep my focus on what's to come. Records are made to be broken. We will try and break this too. We are hoping to come up with a good performance tomorrow. India vs Pakistan depends a lot on who does well on the big day. I have belief that my boys will be able to step up on the day," he said during the pre-match press conference.

India, on the other hand, have been bolstered by the return of Shubman Gill. The opening batter was a major doubt for the high-octane clash due to Dengue fever but has apparently won the race against time to mark his presence in the playing XI.
