"Bowlers are saying they won't come here" - Aakash Chopra on Australia's explosive batting in 2023 World Cup win vs the Netherlands

Aakash Chopra has light-heartedly pointed out that bowlers might not want to play at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi after Australia's explosive batting performance in their 2023 World Cup clash against the Netherlands.

The Aussies set the Dutch a 400-run target after opting to bat first on a placid pitch on Wednesday, October 25. They then bowled out Scott Edwards' side for a paltry 90 to complete an emphatic 309-run win and consolidate their fourth spot in the points table.

Reflecting on Australia's batting in a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra pointed out that fours and sixes rained in Delhi. He said (1:55):

"Australia decided to bat first after winning the toss and scored 399. What are you doing? Fours and sixes are being hit at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as though it is a Sarojini Nagar sale, fours and sixes on every ball as though they were on sale. Bowlers are saying they won't come here."

The former India opener lauded David Warner for continuing his run-scoring spree. He elaborated:

"Whoever starts hitting, doesn't stop at all. Mitchell Marsh came to open with David Warner. Mitchell Marsh played a bad shot but David Warner said that his wagon is back on track and he won't let it derail now. He scored a century in the last match and a hundred here as well."

Chopra also praised Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne for being among the runs. He stated:

"Australia slipped a little when he got out as they were 244/2 and became 267/5. Wickets fell one after the other, although Steve Smith played well. He needed to score runs and he also finally got his rhythm. Marnus Labuschagne also scored runs. So everyone in focus did a good job in this match."

Warner smashed 104 runs off 93 deliveries with the help of 11 fours and three sixes. While Smith scored a 68-ball 71, Labuschagne smoked 62 runs off 47 balls.

Aakash Chopra lauded Glenn Maxwell for taking Australia to a mammoth total after they had stumbled a little. He observed (3:25):

"They became 290/6 and then it looked like it would be a big thing if they reached even 350. But then came a storm named Glenn Maxwell - a century off 40 balls. Maximus, maximum, Maxwell, big show - we got to see everything. He hits sixes against fast bowlers with switch hits."

Maxwell smashed 106 runs off just 44 deliveries, a knock studded with nine fours and eight sixes. He even reverse-pulled Bas de Leede for a six over third man, a shot that left most cricket experts stunned.
