It seems that the debate surrounding the Nagpur pitch, won’t die out anytime soon. There have been numerous opinions surrounding the condition of the pitch, where India secured victory in 3 days time.

After a number of pundits gave their mixed views on the nature of the wicket, now even the Indian Olympian shooter Heena Sidhu has expressed her opinion and has termed that the tactic to prepare a ‘favourable’ pitch as unsporting.

Heena took to Twitter to blast out the nature of the pitch, on which South African batsmen struggled to get runs, and also observed how the pitch started behaving badly right from day one of the Test match.

“To win the series(India-SA), if u have to resort to tampering with pitches to get favourable results, that’s unsporting. You've killed d quality,” she wrote on her official Twitter handle, on the day India clinched the series 2-0.

The World Cup gold medallist shooter also went to question the standards imposed by the ICC on pitches. “Where are the regulatory standards imposed by ICC? They finished the test match in 3 days. The pitch started cracking from day 1,” she expressed.

She added that the ‘tactics’ regarding preparing favourable pitches for the home team, was bad for cricket and seeked the intervention of the ICC. “I am saying whoever does it is wrong. ICC should do something. It’s bad for cricket. Any sport improves only with competition.”

“Home advantage is misconstructed in cricket. This is a bat and ball game now, not a gentlemen’s sport. ICC must step in and take resolute steps to stop this malpractice. It is plain ridiculous,” she continued.
