Reports: BCCI set to reveal the name of IPL-8 fixing suspect

Rajasthan Royal’s player was approached to fix matches before the start of IPL 8

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed according to the reports that they'll give their official statement on Indian Premier League's (IPL) eighth season fixing issue. BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) will be providing the investigative report on the identity of the Mumbai Ranji player who approached one IPL player.

In a sensational development some days back, reports revealed that the Rajasthan Royal's (RR) Pravin Tambe was approached by his Mumbai's Ranji teammate before the start of IPL to fix matches. The spinner later restrained himself from commenting on the same when media tried to ask him.

“They have assured that the BCCI’s ACSU will pursue the case in earnest and will come out with a report in the coming months to ensure that everything is out in the open, and that the report is made official before the start of the domestic season (October),” a source was quoted saying by Indian Express.

Maharashtra Cricket Association's joint secretary PV Shetty commented saying that they've not got any information yet from BCCI's end.

“We’ve not got any information from the BCCI on this issue. No, we have not asked them. They must’ve either investigated the thing or are still pursuing it,” Shetty said.

At the start of the IPL 8, BCCI's secretary Anurag Thakur as well as RR's team CEO Raghu Iyer praised the whistleblower for bringing information about the same to the ACSU of BCCI about the alleged approach by another individual.

IPL is not new to match fixing allegations. In 2013 season, 3 players from Rajasthan Royals were found guilty of spot-fixing.
