Why do we target Sachin?

Aftab

Why indeed! Tendulkar must be thinking of borrowing Balotelli’s ‘Why Always Me’ T-shirt. All of cricket’s critics (or at least the ones with brains) are targeting Sachin and egging him to retire, and all those senseless Sachin fanatics who barely know anything about cricket are shouting out – “WHY ALWAYS SACHIN?!” So, I will answer your question. Be prepared to be offended; I really don’t care. I put the game above any player and I don’t care if he is the greatest. Cricket will always be more important than Sachin Tendulkar.

Now, look at Sachin’s age. He is 39, and we are all waiting for a comeback from the Little Master! Oh wait! I think I am dreaming. At this age of 39, he will not come back. As for MS Dhoni, well, he just replied with a terrific 99. See, Dhoni is young (well, at least comparatively), and he has the capability in him to come back with a bang. Although I admit, he is no Test player. Look at Sachin’s scores. His scores have been pathetically low, and every match that he makes a decent score (rare but possible), India lose. Now even if he doesn’t score, it doesn’t matter. Dhoni may be having a bad run, but he does manage to come on top of it well; so does Kohli. Look at Tendulkar’s mode of dismissals! He is getting bowled on such a regular basis. Is that good cricket? Even a juvenile watcher knows it is bad. But no, Tendulkar fans will never accept that his time is over.

Also, why don’t I target any bowlers? Well, is Sachin a bowler?!

And what has he won for India? Most of his trophies are due to other players. He has made records, sure, but he never won us anything of the elite. All that was all due to MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and other players. Records mean nothing, achievements do. Sachin may have a lot of records, but very few achievements.

This Test is most probably his last, thank God for that. I don’t think he has any cricket left in him. Sourav Ganguly has diplomatically said Sachin must retire, and anyone who says anything against Ganguly is definitely a fool. Grow up Indian, cricket is not greater than Tendulkar!

But you will say no, Viv Richards said he doesn’t need to retire. Of course he will say that! He doesn’t want India to win; he wants his own country to win! Having Tendulkar play is a waste of one decent player who could make a difference.

And speaking of under-performers, Tendulkar is bad, but so is Sehwag. I’ll let it be known to all that Sehwag is playing miserable as well, and he can come back or leave the game for good – I don’t care if he is great or he is useless. If he cannot play, he must leave. If he doesn’t want to leave, he must make a comeback and play.

Dhoni managed to make a comeback, so did Kohli; if Sehwag can, fantastic, or else he too must leave. It’s as simple as that. A player who cannot play must not waste good time, he should just quit.

In a nutshell, Dear Tendulkar fans: FACE THE FACTS.
