McLaren managing director Jonathan Neal has said that he does not expect Mercedes to offer a sub-standard service despite it being the last year of collaboration between the two teams.

McLaren will sell engines to Force India and Williams along with Mercedes and will see radical changes in their partnerships as the sport is moving from the current V8 to new turbo V6 rules.

“I know Mercedes very well, having worked with them for years,” Neal told Austrian website Laola1.

Neal added that as the drivers have to cope the entire season with just five engines means that there won’t be any room for low quality engines.

“All parts must be of the highest quality. So there can be no A, B or C equipment,” he said.
