Airtel I-League has reached its business end. Most of the teams have played 20 or more games and are left with hardly 3 or 4 games to play.

This year’s I-league witnessed the advent of a new team, Bengaluru FC from the garden city Bengaluru. The inception of this team was a result of AIFF’s plan to introduce corporate teams in I-league. As a result, last year Bangalore based corporate group, JSW group decided to form a new in the city of Bangalore.

Bengaluru F.C or as it is popularly known as BFC played their first match in I-League against Mohun Bagan at the Bangalore Football Stadium. The newbies in Indian football took hardly anytime to make an impression at the national scenario both on and off the field.

BFC started winning games defeating heavy weights in Indian football and their fans responded well too. From the very first day Bangalore witnessed packed houses during the home games of BFC. The fans kept on coming in numbers to cheer for their newly formed city based club.

From the very first day to yesterday’s last home game of BFC the fans kept on filling the stadium up to the brim.

Bengaluru F.C can proudly boast that they have the best home support in the country. We provide you five reasons which would support their cause.

1. Fans marching to the ground on match day

This is undoubtedly an unique feat in Indian football. Never before have any Indian club witnessed such a gesture that fans form a group and march towards the ground before the game starts. These are common scenes in European countries but surely not in India. These fans have introduced a new gesture in Indian football.

2. Continuous chants at the stadium

Bengaluru F.C fans have proved that they do not lack energy when it comes to cheering their heart out for their favouritefootball team at the stadium. Anybody who had visited the stadium (especially West Block ‘A’ stand) would know that the fants tiredlessly cheer for their team. The stadium echoes in continuous chants. This too is an unique aspect as never before have we seen such atmosphere in Indian stadiums.

3. Packed stadium in every home game

This is one aspect which every Indian football lover used to crave for. Although before the advent of BFC, their were many clubs who had considerable amount of fan bases, regular crowd turn ups during home games was a missing feat. Even the Kolkata fans failed to turn up in every home game in numbers, (except derbies).

Bangalore witnessed their fans coming in large numbers in each and every home game, irrespective of whether weekday or weekend. Bangalore Football Stadium had on an average 6000+ crowd in every home game. This is surely a great improvement in Indian football scenario.

Robin Singh’s tweet before the game. The record was indeed broken yesterday as 8,347 people turned up for the last home against Pune FC.

4. Ladies turned up in numbers at the stadium

It is a common sight at European venues that men and women together visit stadiums in large numbers to support their favourite teams. But in India we have never seen women visiting football stadiums to cheer for a football club. It might be common sight in cricket stadiums but it was not in case of football.

But Bangalore witnessed women fans in numbers too cheer for Bengaluru F.C. It is indeed a great gesture from the ladies and it proves that the game is gaining popularity among masses.

5. Last day gesture from the team

Bengaluru F.C too showed a great gesture on the last home game yesterday. After the team managed a 1-1 draw against Pune F.C the enitre team including the coaching staff displayed a huge banner in which they thanked the ever energetic Bengaluru F.C fans.

The gesture surely touched the hearts of thousands of fans.
