Andriy Shevchenko considering coming out of retirement

England v Ukraine - Group D: UEFA EURO 2012

Andriy Shevchenko, may get back on the field to play professional football once again. The former Chelsea and AC Milan striker is considering playing for Indonesian side Mitra Kukar.

The Ukrainian had retired after the Euro that happened last year and had tried his hand at politics. But his career in politics didn’t turn out to be as successful as his footballing one and the 36-year-old player is looking for other options.

Last weeek, AC Milan legends and Indonesian All Stars XI went head to head at the country’s capital, Jakarta and Shevchenko, having spent his career at AC Milan, was a part of the squad.

After the game, Mitra manager Roni Fauzan told reporters that his side was negotiating a deal.

‘Obviously we’re interested in Shevchenko, but we have to continue to discuss this question, particularly the financial aspects,’ he said.

‘Andriy has made clear that he is not against joining Mitra Kukar, but at the moment we don’t know how much he’ll be able to play. We’d like to invite Andrey for 10 games, but he apparently is happy to play no more than five times.

‘The problem is about the duration he can play for Mitra Kukar. Regarding the contract fee, I think we can provide the funds, but we need to speak with the management.’
