Is France and Atletico Madrid hitman Antoine Griezmann supporting Paul Pogba? Or is he just paying tribute to some of the French icons which include Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona and Michel Platini? If it’s the latter, it still wouldn’t have dented his popularity among the United faithful as the entire world knows how good a player he is.

The picture posted on Instagram includes some of the iconic celebrations we have seen in the past few seasons. Griezmann is showing off his ’Drake’ impersonation while the 23-year-old Manchester United midfielder has been pictured doing his world famous dab. Also, the picture contains Henry’s trademark jog (celebration after scoring a goal) and Cantona’s celebration after his sublime chip against Sunderland.

The picture could have also meant to show the power shift in French football. It all began with Michel Platini and Cantona leading the revolution of French football in the 80’s. The torch was passed on to Zidane in the 90’s and Henry took over proceedings in the early 2000’s. Now, it’s up to the Atletico Madrid forward and Pogba to make France a superpower in world football again. Griezmann has captioned the photo as himself along with France’s best players.

A target for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho

Manchester United fans are feeling down in the dumps after three defeats in the span of eight days. Although Atletico Madrid has been handed a transfer ban, Jose Mourinho seems to be fairly confident that the French contingent in Manchester United, which includes Pogba, Anthony Martial, and Morgan Schneiderlin would be successful in luring the Atletico goal machine to Old Trafford very soon.

Griezmann won the Golden Boot with France in the recently concluded European Championships and played a vital role in Atletico’s journey to the Champions League Final. He scored 32 goals in 51 games last season.

At the age of 25, he is a genuine superstar fo club and country, and is undoubtedly a significant outlay to land, but with United having spent a world record fee for the services of Paul Pogba, there is no reason as to why United will stop going after the forward.
