Will Sanchez still be an Arsenal player next season?

Juventus are still harbouring dreams of signing Alexis Sanchez and will be looking to land the unsettled Arsenal forward in the next summer. The Serie A champions had already chased the star last summer but Arsenal held on to their main man. However, with Sanchez’s current contractual situation at the Emirates Stadium, a move next summer cannot be ruled out.

According to the Sun, Juventus’ sporting director, Giuseppe Marotta, claimed that the club had made a £34m bid over the summer. Despite meeting Arsenal’s asking price, the move had not transpired eventually.

Arsenal might now feel that they lost the chance to cash in back then. They have failed to tie Sanchez down to a new deal with the Chilean holding out for a higher wage. His current deal at the London-based side runs out in 2018 and a move away from the club is becoming increasingly probable.

Reportedly, Arsene Wenger had offered the 27-year-old a wage increase from his current £140,000-a-week deal to £180,000-a-week. However, Sanchez had demanded somewhere close to £250,000-a-week. By the end of the season, he will have just a year remaining on his contract and Arsenal could risk losing him for nothing in 2018.

Now, Italian news outlet Tuttosport have claimed that Juventus could take advantage of the situation and make a move for their ‘dream’ signing next summer. They woul be offering a final ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ for the forward who has been in top form this season.

The hierarchy at the Turin-based club are ‘dreaming’ of an attacking trio of Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Sanchez. They believe that the addition of the versatile forward would provide some width as well as creativity to the Juventus attack thus making the club serious Champions League contenders. Sanchez could also be used in a free central role to pull the strings in a narrow diamond.

Ever since he has been shifted to a free central role at Arsenal this season, Sanchez has been in terrific form. He has scored 12 goals in 16 games already in the league and is the league’s second-highest scorer behind Chelsea’s Diego Costa. He is vital to Arsenal’s title hopes and any move away from the club would make the fans very angry.

However, with Arsenal’s strict financial policies it is unlikely that Sanchez’s wage demands will be met. It remains to be seen whether the Chilean signs a new deal at the club or seeks new pastures next summer.
