Chelsea are ready to launch a £10 million bid for Hamburg young star Hakan Calhanoglu, beating off competition from Arsenal and Liverpool, according to the Daily Express.

The Turkish attacking midfielder was fantastic in the Bundesliga last season as he led the way in terms of attacking quality at Hamburg last season. Many clubs around Europe are heavily interested in Calhanoglu after his superb season but it is believed that Bayer Leverkusen are closest to signing the midfielder.

The 20-year-old has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool but Chelsea are believed to be preparing a £10m bid to add to their huge attacking midfield quality of players.

Jose Mourinho has already signed Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona for £30 million this summer and has been linked with Juventus star Paul Pogba for a club record fee of £60m, but new rumours now linking the Blues with a bid for Calhanoglu will see the Portuguese coach improve the midfield area of his squad even further.

Frank Lampard has already left the club and rumours still persist over the futures of Ramires and John Obi Mikel so Calhanoglu could be a decent replacement for one of them as Mourinho looks to win the Premier League next season after finished third last season.
