Egypt star Elmohamady joins Hull

Hull City signed Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady from Sunderland today as the newly promoted Premier League side bolstered their squad ahead of their return to the top-flight.

Elmohamady agreed a three-year contract after the two clubs negotiated an undisclosed fee, reported to be in the region of £2 million ($3 million, 2.3 million euros).

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Hull, scoring three goals in 41 games last season as he helped Hull win automatic promotion from the Championship.

“It feels great to be here permanently, especially after what happened here last season,” Elmohamady told Hull’s website.

“It was a great year and I thoroughly enjoyed playing for this club. Everything about it was great, the players, the staff, the fans.

“It’s going to be great to play in the Premier League again, especially with Hull City, and I am very much looking forward to the new season.

“Moving here was an easy decision to make. The fans are fantastic and it will be enjoyable to play in front of them in the Premier League.”

It is the second time Tigers manager Steve Bruce has signed Elmohamady on a permanent basis.

In 2010, then-Sunderland boss Bruce brought Elmohamady to the Stadium of Light, initially on a loan deal before completing a £2 million move for the player the following year.

Elmohamady admitted playing for Bruce was a key reason why he agreed to leave Sunderland.
