Fernando Torres pleased with current form

Fernando Torres getting back his touch

The mid-season transfer of Fernando Torres from Liverpool to Chelsea in 2011 had been the talk of the town for quite some time. A lot had been said and written about the striker by fans and critics at both the clubs, for the £50million move broke the British transfer record. However, a string of below par performances by Torres made it difficult for him to find the back of the net. Torres scored just once in his 18 games in the Chelsea shirt in the 2010-11 season.

But the Spanish international rediscovered his touch and was the top-scorer for Chelsea last season, having scored 22 goals. Torres has netted 5 times in 3 games for Spain in the ongoing Confederations Cup in Brazil. He feels he is getting back to his best and hopes people don’t judge him by his past performances anymore.

He said: “I think that everyone has in their heads my first year at Chelsea, which was not good, more than reality itself.

“I am pleased with my performances, although I demanded an awful lot more from myself. Things are returning to normality for me.

“I feel very well, physically well despite the fact it was a very long season. I am comfortable, strong and fast.”
