The draw for the pre-quarterfinals (Round of 16) of the 2012/13 German Cup (DFB Pokal) were held yesterday evening. German women’s national defender Saskia Bartusiak along with Germany’s Director of Sports Robin Dutt carried out the draw. And there are some really interesting clashes to look forward to, though there are no big team matches. Defending champions Borussia Dortmund face Bundesliga rivals Hannover 96 at home with beaten finalists FC Bayern Munich have to travel to FC Augsburg for a Bavarian derby.
The two third division (3.Liga) sides left in the competition drew Bundesliga sides, but not the real biggies. Karlsruher SC drew SC Freiburg in a southwest derby, while Kickers Offenbach face Fortuna Düsseldorf.
All the matches will be played on December 18/19 just before Christmas.
