Chelsea overcame Hull City at the KC Stadium to move top of the league overnight, as they mirrored their victory over Hull on the opening day by winning 2-0.

Eden Hazard opened the scoring with a fine strike after a good team move, before Fernando Torres wrapped up the game with five minutes remaining for his second goal in consecutive appearances. Petr Cech also broke Peter Bonetti’s record for clean sheets at the club, as he recorded his 150th league shut-out for the Blues.

Alan McGregor (-29) Made an excellent save from Oscar in the first half as one of three saves, but completed only 29% of his 14 attempted passes.

Ahmed Elmohamady (5) Had one shot on target, and connected with the only corner he took.

Curtis Davies (17) Made three interceptions, won both of his tackles and made one fantastic last ditch block.

Alex Bruce (-4) Made 11 successful clearances, but lost four of his six headed duels and conceded two fouls.

Stephen Quinn (-1) Failed with his only crossing attempt, but completed seven of his eight passes.

Matty Fryatt (-4) Completed 88% of his passes, but lost his only headed duel

Robert Koren (4) Won his only tackle after coming on and was fouled on two occasions, without committing one in return.

Chelsea

Petr Cech (38) Made two decent saves and found a Chelsea man with 40% of his passes.

Cesar Azpilicueta (25) Made five clearances in addition to achieving two interceptions.

John Terry (8) Conceded one foul, but made three clearances and completed 86% of his passes.

Gary Cahill (37) Made 12 clearances and won five out of six headed duels.

Ashley Cole (47) Completed 94% his 50 passes, including a key pass for Hazard’s goal, while he made five successful clearances as well.
