The seventeenth round of the 2012/13 I-League was played on January 19/20 across the country with 16 goals scored across six matches as the Mumbai derby between Air India and ONGC postponed to March 3.An in-form Churchill Brothers SC moved clear at the top of the I-League standings with a 3-0 away win against second placed East Bengal Club. The much anticipated encounter was a one-sided affair with the red-and-gold nowhere near their best, something that was utilised by a clinical Churchill Brothers with a brace from Henry Antchouet and another goal from substitute Akram Moghrabi.
Besides the top of the table clash, the most anticipated game of the round was between Salgaocar FC and reinstalled Mohun Bagan AC with coach Karim Bencharifa, who had started the season on the opposition bench. There was a lot of security at the Duler ground and the home team took full control from the start and scored a convincing 2-0 win with goals from new recruits Gabriel Obatola and Josimar da Silva Martins. For pointless Mohun Bagan, the fight for survival has started.
Meanwhile elsewhere, champions Dempo SC scored a convincing 7-0 victory against struggling United Sikkim FC.
