Indian striker Robin Singh spends a day with aspiring Delhi footballers

Indian football star and national team striker Robin Singh spent a day at My Angels Academy, a non-profit football organization for underprivileged youth, based out of Vikaspuri, New Delhi. Robin, born and brought up in Noida, is a graduate of the renowned Tata Football Academy and has returned home on the back of a successful I-League season with East Bengal Football Club. Robin won the hearts of Indian football fans by scoring the decisive penalty against Cameroon in the Nehru Cup final last year.

Robin participated in an interactive session with the children where he shared his journey from a Delhi NCR youth to representing India at the international level. He also learned about how My Angels Academy has transformed the lives of slum youth through football. Robin answered the Angels questions on everything, from nutrition to the importance of having the right attitude. The group, which included more than 50 eager young footballers, then made their way to the football pitch, where they could see firsthand some of Robin’s skills which have tormented defenders over the years.

“It was my pleasure to interact with such talented kids. Their zeal and enthusiasm reminded me of my childhood days. I would like to thank Mr. Sylvester Peter for inviting me to My Angles Academy and Libero Sports for organizing the visit as it was truly an unforgettable experience,” Robin said after the event.

Sylvester Peter, the founder of My Angels Academy said, “It was a wonderful and enriching experience for our children to be able to interact so closely with an Indian National Team player from Delhi NCR as most of them dream of representing India one day. Robin not only filled the children’s minds with excellent tips, he also won over their hearts by gifting them Nike footballs.”
