Rio de Janeiro, June 12 (IANS): Italy were held to a shock 2-2 draw by Haiti in their final warm-up match before the Confederations Cup.

The Azzurri, with a team largely made up of reserves, appeared set for a comfortable victory at the Sao Januario stadium after goals either side of half-time from Emanuele Giaccherini and Claudio Marchisio Tuesday, reports Xinhua

But Pascal Millien struck from the penalty spot with five minutes remaining before Jean-Philippe Peguero equalised in stoppage time.

The result broke a run of six straight defeats for the Caribbean nation.

Italy open their Confederations Cup campaign against Mexico at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana stadium Sunday.
