Jose Mourinho: Chelsea-target Willian has made a decision

Willian

Chelsea appear to have won the race to sign Brazilian midfielder Willian after Jose Mourinho says that the player has already made a decision. He has not openly stated that he has chosen Chelsea, but he has given subtle hints. His comments came in the press conference ahead of the Manchester United vs Chelsea match on Monday.

Mourinho said: “I think he’s already made his decision.

“I don’t like to speak before time because football can be crazy. I know what the player wants, so in this moment we cannot hide. That is a possibility.”

Chelsea are thought to have agreed a £30 million bid for Willian, while also offering substantially better wages than Tottenham.

Roman Abramovich’s good links with Anzhi Makhachkala owner Suleiman Kerimov is thought to have made the deal possible.

Mourinho added that nothing has been signed yet. Tottenham had a medical done on the player, but it now means nothing. Hence, Chelsea should not get too excited before the paperwork is completed according to Mourinho.

“I couldn’t say much in previous news conferences. We always want something of more quality and we never close the door to the possibility of adding more quality,” added Mourinho.

He has also joked that it is better to have the medical done secretly since it will help prevent embarrassment if the club do not sign the player.

Clearly, Mourinho has not lost the art of making the headlines.
