Didier Drogba issues one final rallying cry to his Chelsea teammates

The golden partnership between Mourinho and Drogba is now on its last leg

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has dropped a hint that his return to Chelsea is only a one-season affair and that he may bring curtains down on his sparkling professional career at the end of the 2014-15 season.

"This year the key for me is to enjoy my football and to be with my team-mates and to win trophies. There is one more year to go so let's do it, let's win more trophies, let's make history again.”

The Ivorian striker had bid farewell to Stamford Bridge after having led their forward line for 8 years, between 2004 and 2012. He signed a 12-month contract with the London club at the beginning of this season, in what was a grand return of the hero, and has been coming up with impressive displays on the rare occasions that he has been called upon to cover for Diego Costa.

3 goals in 10 matches is not even close to the feats the 36-year-old is used to be achieving in his favourite blue jersey, but all the 3 goals he has returned will be cherished for a long time by the Chelsea faithful.

"This relationship between me and the fans goes both ways, the way they show their support and the way they love me. If there is some way I love them even more because of all we achieved together, all the history.”

Drogba’s rallying cry drew largely on Chelsea’s comparatively short ‘history’, the forging of which he himself had an instrumental part to play in. He has 160 goals from 351 matches for the London club as of now. His best years did not merely co-incide with Chelsea’s best years.

"I have always said my first eight years here were the best years of my career. I know they enjoyed it because I did.

"I'm far from all the players who made history here, but I'm also next to them."

Anderson Talisca speculation to further push out Drogba

Jose Mourinho is eyeing a potential deal for Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca, who is being chased by Arsenal and Liverpool too. The 20-year-old, currently playing for Benfica, can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a striker.

Talisca received his maiden call-up to the Brazilian national team on Tuesday to replace the injured Lucas Moura.

Should Mourinho be able to make a successful swoop for his target, Drogba will be pushed further down the pecking order.
